Consider The Pumpkin
A new animation about a pumpkin, a life recap and a winter reading log
Welcome back dear Soda Lake reader!
To start with, here’s a new little animation loosely based on a memory (Warning: there are flashing lights at the end):
Some other stuff I’ve been up to
Bat-Fam came out! I had the great pleasure of directing on it with one of the best crews around. Here’s a little promo I made. I’m also Available For Work for directing/storyboarding!!!
Went to the wrap party at The Magic Castle. An LA rite of passage that I’d missed out on until now.
Voiced Venus Cosmic AND Venusian #3 in the new season of Fionna and Cake(!!!) Go watch it!
Played a lot of Ping Pong. Way more Ping Pong than usual, but probably still less Ping Pong than I’d like. I somehow haven’t watched Marty Supreme.

Winter Reading Log
I haven’t read as much as I wanted to this past winter but here are some highlights:
Children Of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky which I loved! A lot of cool exobiology stuff to think about.
That Old Ace in the Hole by Annie Proulx. Incredible, vivid writing and she’s so funny. I couldn’t stop talking about it for weeks. I’m Proulx-pilled.
A Drop Of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett (I liked the first book more I think).
Mort by Terry Pratchett, I’ve been meaning to read the Discworld series so here we are.
Currently reading: The Last Samurai by Helen DeWitt, Hail Mary by Andy Weir (idk about this one) and Diaspora by Greg Egan. Thinking about starting The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and maybe re-reading Jane Eyre (people are either a Jane Eyre or a Wuthering Heights person. I’m a Jane Eyre guy).
EXTRA EXTRA
Movies I liked: Eephus and Shall We Dance? (1996, not the Richard Gere one.)
Listening to: Neuromantic by Yukihiro Takahashi
Can’t stop thinking about: The Swiss slogan for fondue, FIGUGEGL
I played: The Outer Worlds 2 (not as good as 1 sadly), Persona 5 Royal (very cool), and am sad to report that we beat Alan Wake 2... but I am glad that Control 2 is coming out this year. I hope it fills the Alan Wake shaped hole in my heart.
Logging off with this Mylene Farmer clip I found while in a youtube music spiral. Seems like a Wuthering Heights person to me:

You’re really talented. Also, my brother enjoyed listening to The Outer Worlds score, great stuff he let me listen to
